There were wins for both the Verona High School boys and girls varsity basketball teams over the weekend.
The boys took on Sussex Tech at home and came away with a 66-49 victory. While the Senior Day game honored the team’s lone senior, Ethan Garsman, the juniors rules on the boards: Alex Kaslander had 16 points and Michael Coppola had 14. Brye Lewis was the top scorer for Sussex, with 16.
The Hillbilly boys were coming off a narrow Valentines Day defeat by North 13th Street Tech, 43-41. Kaslander had 18 points in that game, too. The Verona boys’ record is 11-11
Also on Saturday, the Verona girls basketball team defeated North 13th Street Tech 37-21, at home. Amanda Langan was her usual high scoring self, with 20 points and 13 rebounds on the game. Julie Rosenberg contributed to the victory with a neatly matched nine points and nine rebounds.
