Cordasco-NP-QuadThe Hillbilly wrestlers took on Parsippany, New Providence and Mountain Lakes high schools in a quad meet on Saturday at home and came up short, despite strong performances by several members of the Verona High School team.

Lou Mattia, wrestling at 113, got a 19-13 win over Zander Felezzola of New Providence, and pinned Zach Dexter of Mountain Lakes.

Joe Cordasco, pictured above, traded his usual pin for a 4-1 decision over Joe Joe Cirrocca of New Providence, but did pin Cameron Bonsell of Mountain Lakes.

Frank Greco returned to the VHS lineup after a hand injury and pinned both Kris Castaldo of New Providence and Harsh Dave of Mountain Lakes.

Chris Virgadamo, wrestling at 132, got a noteworthy 7-1 decision over Carl-Simon Sokollek of Mountain Lakes, while freshman Mark Riggio got a 4-1 decision over another Mountain Lakes team member, Davis Thompson.

The district wrestling championship will be held at West Essex High School next Saturday starting at 9 a.m.
