Soldier Gets Double Arm Transplant: In 2010, Verona resident Mary Bovich began to raise funds for a young soldier from Staten Island who had been severely injured in Iraq. Brendan Marrocco, who served in the same platoon as Bovich’s nephew, lost both arms and both legs and suffered extensive injuries to his neck and face. So when Johns Hopkins University let the world know that Marrocco had become the world’s first double arm transplant, we had to let readers know.
