Snow Scrambles Sports

There’s not even a flake on the ground now but the impending snowstorm is already causing changes in Verona.

The Verona-Glen Ridge hockey team’s game against Nutley that was to have been played at Codey arena on Friday evening has been moved to Sunday at 5:45 p.m.

On Saturday, track practice has been cancelled and both the JV and varsity girls basketball games against Orange High School have been moved to Monday. The JV team plays at 4 p.m. and the varsity takes to the court at 5:30 p.m. The games will be played at Orange.

The boys basketball team is supposed to hold a free-throw fundraiser during practice on Saturday morning. Each player will shoot 100 free throws and sponsors can donate a dollar amount for each made shot or just contribute a flat rate. All funds collected will go to the donation to the Coaches vs. Cancer charity. If it snows, the fundraiser will be moved to February 23.

If you do not know a VHS basketball player and would like to donate, e-mail Coach Eric McElroy.
