The Verona High School girls basketball team beat Arts High School 43-30 in Newark yesterday. Julie Rosenberg was the top scorer for VHS, with 13 points. Shannon Thomas was the lead scorer for Arts, with 20 points.
Amanda Langan had 12 points, 12 rebounds, a steal and a block. The points put up yesterday now put the senior within four points of 1,000 career points. She is likely to be the first VHS girl to reach 1,000 points since 1995 when Verona takes on Cedar Grove at home. The game starts at 10:30 a.m.
