Elizabeth Jewett, the director of instructional studies, for the Verona public school district, presented the schools’ five-year strategic plan at the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday.
The plan, which you can view here, laid out a series of core values for student development and financial management of the district, and set forth this mission statement:
The mission of the Verona Public Schools, the center of an engaged and supportive community, is to empower students to achieve their potential as active learners and productive citizens through rigorous curricula and meaningful, enriching experiences.
The Strategic Plan was draft during a two-day meeting in December by a committee comprised of board members, administrators, faculty, parents, community members and a high school student. The next step in the process is to form teams that will develop action plans for each of the strategies outlined in the framework. Jewett said at Tuesday’s meeting that the teams will meet in person two to three times over the next five months and would do the rest of their work through online collaboration. If you are interested in serving on an Action Team, you need to fill out this short form and submit it to the school district office at 121 Fairview Avenue.
