We’re not making a New Year’s resolution this year. And it’s not because we’ve never been terribly good at keeping them (none of us are).
No, we’re not making a resolution this year because resolutions aren’t going to cut it. We need inspiration. Heavy duty inspiration.
We need fresh ways of seeing the world around us, and we suspect that you, our readers, do to. We need ideas that will spur us to find creative solutions to situations at home, at school and at work.
And so we’re committing to finding inspiration for ourselves and all the readers of MyVeronaNJ.com. We’re going to be looking for it within the borders of Verona, and in the world beyond. And we invite you to share the things that inspire you with us and your fellow readers.
For the last few years, one of our favorite sources for a hit of inspiration has been the talks delivered at the TED conferences. TED (the acronym stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design) puts unusual ideas on stage, at places all over the world. Some of it, we’ll admit, is scientific stuff that is way, way over our heads. But most of the talks are extremely cool–and extremely inspiring.
Like this talk by Neil Pasricha, blogger at 1000awesomethings.com and author of The Book Of Awesome. It starts a bit slowly, but stick with it. It’s awesome, and we can’t think of a better way to begin a new year.
