On Wednesday, December 12, the Verona-Glen Ridge hockey team took on neighboring Montclair High School at Clary Anderson arena in Montclair.
VGR was led by senior Sam Dobbs of Glen Ridge (pictured below) whose goal put VGR ahead midway through the first period. VGR goalie Jake Biondi, a senior from Glen Ridge High School, was strong once again in net for the team. Unfortunately for VGR, Montclair went on to score two unanswered goals. Brock Bowers netted one in the second period, and then Riley Gerne got the game winner with less then 3 minutes to go while on a power play.
VGR is set to take on conference opponent Livingston on Friday at 6:45 p.m. at Codey Arena in West Orange. On Saturday they face Nutley at 7:45 p.m. and Milburn on Monday at 6:15 p.m. Both of those games are at Codey as well.
