Egan Heads To Meet Of Champions

Melanie Egan will be the last Verona High school athlete to compete in playoffs this fall after qualifying for the cross-country Meet of Champions on Saturday at the state Group Championships at Holmdel Park.

Egan finished ninth with a time of 20:28. The top 10 competitors (picture above; Egan in Verona colors) move on to the Meet of Champions, on Wednesday, November 21, at 2 p.m. back at Holmdel.

Egan is the first Verona girl to qualify for the cross-country Meet of Champions since Laura Zaccagnino in 2007.
