Two first-half goals by Jagger Ferreira and Joshua Liviapoma of Newark’s Science High School were enough to hold off the Verona Hillbillies yesterday at Ironbound Stadium. Troy Carrington (above) played another strong game, but was ejected with a red card near the end of the match-up. The 2-0 loss drops the boys’ soccer team record to 6-10-1 on the season.

Hillbilly Country will be hopping today as the cross country team travels to Brookdale Park, girls soccer is at Mount Saint Dominic and the volleyball team is home against Newark Academy. The Hillbillies football team has an away game at Newark’s Untermann Field tonight at 7 p.m. against the Weequahic Indians.
