Education was the center of discussion in the center of town Wednesday night as the Verona Inn became the site of the fall fundraiser for the Verona Foundation for Educational Excellence.
While Verona’s senator, Frank Launtenberg, made an appearance at Annin Flag for an event for Councilman Michael Nochimson, VFEE’s fundraise drew Verona’s congressman, Rep. Rodney P. Frelinghuysen, Mayor Frank Sapienza (above) and several dozen guests. VFEE provides grants to Verona teachers for a wide range of classroom needs, in areas from the arts to technology, as well as funding for professional development.
The back room of the new Verona Inn was the location of a silent auction fundraiser for VFEE, where guests bid for items like a football autographed by Victor Cruz. According to VFEE, the event brought in over $5,000 in auction bids and donations.
