Newark East Side High School scored four first-half goals en route to a rain-soaked 4-3 victory over the Hillbillies yesterday in Verona. Senior Alec Puerari and juniors Troy Carrington and Matt Braschi all scored for the 5-9-1 Hillbillies. Carrington had two assists in the effort, and Mike King had six saves in goal.

Montclair Kimberley Academy swept the volleyball team in two sets (25-17, 25-12) yesterday at MKA. The loss dropped the team’s record to 7-8 on the season as neighboring MKA moved to 15-1.

The girls tennis match against Park Ridge, the Group 1 Section State Finals, was postponed.

The Hillbillies have a light schedule today, with the girls soccer team heading to Newark Academy and the tennis team travelling to West Orange. Both contests start at 4 p.m.
