The Verona Health Department is holding a flu shot clinic in conjunction with the Montclair Health Department on Wednesday, October 24, at Hillwood Terrace seniors building and the Verona Community Center.
The shots will be given at Hillwood from 9 to 10:30 a.m. The Community Center session is from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
All adults are eligible to receive a regular flu shot at the cost of $20. A higher-dose option is available for people 65 years and older. Medicare B covers the cost of the regular and high dose version. You must bring your Medicare card with you. If you have a Medicare HMO, you must pay the $20 and then get reimbursed by your HMO.
For more information about the dangers of flu and the benefits of the flu vaccine, talk to your doctor or nurse, visit the Centers for Disease Control’s Web site or call the Montclair Health Department at 973-509-4974. Flu vaccine supplies are plentiful this year. It takes about two weeks after vaccination for your body to develop protection against the flu.
