A “medical lockdown” drill was held this morning at Verona High School. The drill, which was conducted after a student was injured, caught students off guard and led to a flurry of cell phone messages between students and parents.
The drill began just before 11 a.m. According to several VHS students, a fellow student was injured in gym and the Verona Rescue Squad and Verona Police responded.
The school used the Global Connect System to inform parents at noon. According to the message, all classes continued during the drill, but students were not allowed in the hallways. The message said that the school has returned to normal operation.
UPDATE: At 5:30 p.m., VHS emailed out a letter explaining the lockdown. You can read it here.
