The Verona Historical Society is inviting the public to join them on Tuesday, October 2 at 7:30 p.m. for a tour of the historic Canfield/Morgan House in Cedar Grove.

The house sits on a 14-acre site that was farmed from the mid-1800s until 1985. Benjamin Canfield built the farmhouse around 1845 when Cedar Grove and Verona were part of Caldwell Township. The Morgan family purchased the house in 1910. When Courtenay Morgan died he donated the farm to the Township of Cedar Grove.

Today the 1845 house functions as a museum depicting it much as it was in the early 1900s, with related farm equipment in the barn. The museum contains artifacts that trace the history of Cedar Grove. One can view Mrs. Morgan’s bedroom with her clothing and letters. Other rooms have display cases and furniture typical of the period.

A guided tour of the house will be provided and a business meeting will follow. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome.

The Morgan House is located at 903 Pompton Ave, Cedar Grove. For more info contact Julie by e-mail or at 973-857-1968.
