Verona’s public schools will be closed Wednesday for Yom Kippur, but there are sports and meetings on every other day and a car wash at OLL on Saturday.

Monday, Sept. 24: The girls soccer team is away at Bernards High School. The boys soccer team is home at Centennial and volleyball is also home, all with a 4 p.m. start. The Verona High School SCA meets at VHS at 7 p.m.

Tuesday, Sept. 25: The Board of Ed meets at 8 p.m. in the Verona High School media center. The vote on the new chaperone policy will be on the agenda. Picture day at Laning.

Wednesday, Sept. 26: Public schools are closed for Yom Kippur. There are travel softball team games at Everett field at 4, 6 and 8 p.m.

Thursday, Sept. 27: Boys soccer teak is home against Science Park and girls tennis is home against West Essex. Volleyball is away at Newark Academy. All 4 p.m. starts. The cross country teams will be competing in Branch Brook Park starting at 4:45 p.m. The Planning Board meeting that was to have been held has been cancelled. The cancer support group WINGS is having a free Qi-gong session at the Community center from 7 to 9 p.m., and there’s belly dancing at Verona Yoga from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. The Anthony Robert Salon will be holding another of its Blowout Lounge events from 5 to 9 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 28: Girls soccer faces Newark Academy at Centennial and volleyball is home against Bloomfield. Both 4 p.m. starts. Verona-based motivational speaker Scott Chesney talks to H.B. Whitehorne middle school students about bullying in an early morning assembly. The HBW 6th grade social is this evening.

Saturday, Sept. 29: Hardbodyz Fitness is having a spin-a-thon from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. to raise money for Miracle Walk, a charity that supports the NICU at Saint Barnabas. The girls cross country team competes at Warinanco Park in Roselle, with a 9 a.m. start. The football team is home against Central High School at 1 p.m. on Doc Goeltz field. Everett Field will host the first ever Verona 10U Maroon vs. Verona 10U White Softball game. Our Lady of the Lake School’s eighth grade students will be hosting a car wash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
