On Saturday, more than 350 young performers lined up outside the Paper Mill Playhouse to audition for the roles of the Von Trapp family children in The Sound of Music. Veronans Grace and Caroline Gault and Maya Fortgang were among them, and we have gotten word that Fortgang and Grace Gault will be among a very small group of actors returning for callbacks.
That’s the good news. The potentially bad news is that both of the H.B. Whitehorne Middle School students are up for the same part: Brigitta, the middle daughter who (in the film version at least) takes it upon herself to tell Maria that the captain is really in love with her.
The girls will be dancing and reading the part tonight in Millburn. We’ll be cheering for both of them and maybe, just maybe, be sing “My Favorite Things” a few times.
The Sound of Music will run from November 23 to December 30, and you can get more information about the production here.
