
In a flurry in front of the opposing goal, junior Colleen Farrell took a shot that had just rebounded off Mount Saint Dominic’s goalie Katie Bolger and put it between the bars to put the Hillbillies in front 1-0. The Hillbillies and the Lady Lions had been knotted in a scoreless tie at halftime until Farrell’s second-half goal. Jillian Sprong added another goal to help the Hillbillies to their second win of the young season. Goalie Diane Flores earned her second straight shutout.
Senior Catherine Aracil had three aces in the second game of yesterday’s volleyball sweep over Montclair High School. Amanda Langan led the Hillbillies with six kills over the two games. The volleyball team’s record stands at 2-3.
The girls tennis team dropped their second match of the year after being swept my perennial powerhouse Newark Academy 5-0.
Thursday action in Hillbilly Country sees the boys’ soccer team in a home match at Centennial Field at and the girls tennis home against Cedar Grove. Both contests have a 4 p.m. start time. The boy’s JV game at HBW has been cancelled.
