The Verona Fire Department recently received a $2,000 grant for fire prevention from FM Global, one of the world’s largest commercial property insurers. Firefighter Laura DeWitt had applied for the grant.

The grant will be used to help strengthen fire prevention efforts throughout the town. Over the years, FM Global has awarded millions of dollars in funding to fire departments worldwide.

The VFD will use the grant money to purchase a laptop, projector and other materials to be used to in educating the public that a majority of property loss is preventable, as well as for the VFD’s children’s fire awareness and prevention program..
