The Paper Mill Playhouse will be holding non-union, children’s auditions for its production of The Sound of Music on Saturday, September 15. The Sound of Music will run at the Millburn theater from Friday, November 23 through December 30. Rehearsals begin Monday, October 29 in New York City.
The Paper Mill is seeking girls who look ages 6-16 and boys who look ages 12-16. Auditions will be held at the theater in Millburn and children and their guardian should join the line in front of the theater and enter through the front doors of the theater only. Audition sign up will take place in the theater’s lobby on a first-come, first-served basis on Saturday, September 15. Sign up for ages 6 to 11 begin at 9 a.m. and sign up for ages 12 to 16 begin at noon. Every child should have a picture and resume stapled together.
Any child who auditions must bring sheet music in the appropriate key and style and be prepared to sing 16 bars only. An accompanist will be provided. No recorded music please. Children should wear appropriate footwear as they may be asked to dance. Callbacks will be held on the same day. Depending on the number of children auditioning, there is no guarantee everyone will be seen.
