Man Sought In Bouncer’s Murder

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and West Orange Police Chief James P. Abbott announced today that Nolvin Garcia, 24, of Orange is wanted for the murder of Jacques Nelson.

Nelson, 32, of Orange, was employed as a bouncer at Misty’s Restaurant and Bar located at 277 Main Street in West Orange. The father of four was fatally shot in the pre-dawn hours of Monday, August 6 when he tried to break up a fight in the parking lot of the establishment.

Garcia has been charged with murder and weapons offenses. Bail was set at $750,000 by the Honorable Joseph Cassini, 3rd, J.S.C.

Garcia, who remains at-large, is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office at 1-877-847-7432.

These charges are accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they plead guilty or are found guilty in a court of law.
