The fourth grade musicians from Verona’s four elementary school converged on the Verona High School auditorium last night to jam–with each other, and with a select group of older musicians. Max Morden, the elementary school band teacher, had the kids from Laning, Forest, F.N. Brown and Brookdale perform with Jazz & Beyond, the award-winning VHS jazz ensemble. Morden called it a “YouTube moment”, and we agree.

The fourth graders performed several numbers, and then got to listen as Jazz & Beyond knocked out tunes like “Mustang Sally”–with Morden singing, much to the kids’ delight.

Here is the  district band and their musical inspirations playing one of the fourth graders’ favorites, “Yoshi”.
