Mr. George Lanzo, 87, died on Sunday, May 20, 2012, in West Caldwell, N.J. A funeral mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona, N.J., on Thursday, May 24, at 10 a.m. Visiting will be in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Ave., Verona, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.

Born in Scranton, Pa., Mr. Lanzo lived in Newark, N.J., and Irvington, N.J., prior to moving to Verona in 1970. He was a truck driver for Bayonne Barrel & Drum in Newark for 40 years and a member of Teamsters Local 478. He was also vice president of the Lafayette Street Stable.

Mr. Lanzo was an avid golfer at Hendricks Field and enjoyed his trips to Florida and Saratoga Springs. He was the beloved husband for 67 years of Madeline R. (nee LaRusso) Lanzo, and the loving father of Michael Lanzo (and his wife, Mary), Antoinette Lanzo, George Lanzo and Dr. Anthony Lanzo (and his wife, Sharon).

He is also survived by his brother, Louis Lanzo; his grandchildren, Lisa Musante, Gina, Mary Kate, Kerry, Dana, Susan Madeline, Shannon, Michael George, Anthony Arturo, and Madeline, and his great-granddaughter, Madeline Musante. Mr. Lanzo was predeceased by his siblings, Dominick, Mary Hayes, Pasqua (Lena) Spiotto, Julia Pollack, Anna Carlone and Yolanda LaRusso.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Verona Rescue Squad would be appreciated.
