The New

Yes, looks different this morning. We are unveiling a redesigned site that is better organized, loads faster on your computer, tablet and phone, and is the gateway to everything you will need to know about Verona. It will also be the home for an expanded lineup of video content and new Web technology. Take a tour of the new site now.

Faster Reading: The old site strained under the more than 3,600 stories and 10,000 images we had on it. The new site can handle all that and more. It also automatically senses which kind of browser and device you’re reading us with and adjusts the site to match. It will be easier than ever to read whenever and wherever you want.

Better Organization: It was simply too easy for readers to miss a story on the old site. We publish a lot of stories every day and they moved through the old home page very quickly. Now we’ve grouped stories by category and put your favorite categories first. When you click on a story from the home page, you’ll be taken to a page showing you all of the most recent stories in that category. Just click on the story you want to read it in full.

More Video: We’ve shot a lot of videos for our news stories about Verona in the last two years and because they are all on a separate YouTube site you may have missed some. But every page of the new site now has a video screen on it so that you can catch up.

Improved Advertising: While the new site works better for our readers and subscribers, it also had to work better for our advertisers. We’ve upgraded our advertising system and added many new advertising spots, including a premium banner in our logo. We also now have the ability to run video ads and ads on our cell phone platform.

More Verona: Verona may be a small town, but there is a lot happening here. The new is a gateway to our new sister Web site, This is an online marketplace for all the businesses in Verona, whether they are on Bloomfield Avenue or run from your dining room table. If you live in Verona but have a business in a neighboring town, you can be in too. Shoppers can easily see what’s in stores or on menus before heading out, get gift certificates and coupons, and even shop completely online.

But above all, the new is designed to keep us just what we already are: Your favorite destination for news and information about Verona.
