For the first time, the Verona Municipal Alliance Committee is offering a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior at Verona High School to be used towards the cost of education at an accredited two- or four-year college or university. VMAC provides educational programming and prevention outreach to the citizens of Verona. Its mission is to provide information on alcohol tobacco and other drug abuse prevention, as well as healthy lifestyle choices to all members of the Verona community.
Eligible students must have been a member of Peer Leaders, Heroes & Cool Kids or STARS, which are all VMAC-funded programs at VHS. Participation in the Best Club or Dream Team while at H.B. Whitehorne Middle School is also a plus.
Applicants will need to create a new public service announcement or slogan aimed at teens, parents or the entire Verona Community that VMAC can use in the future for publicity. The application form and full details are available in the scholarship section on the VHS Web site. Completed applications and supporting materials should be submitted to Diane Newman in the Guidance Department no later than Monday, May 7.
