Cherry Blossom Festival Cancelled

Mother Nature is once again wreaking havoc. Essex County has just sent out an alert saying that, due to the forecast of inclement weather this weekend, the Essex County Cherry Blossom Bloomfest scheduled for Sunday, April 22 in Branch Brook Park has been cancelled. Many of the trees in the Newark park had bloomed early during that crazy spate of warm weather in March.

The National Weather Service is calling for rain to begin falling Saturday afternoon, becoming heavy and steady on Sunday into Monday. We could see two to three inches of rain, which will put the sump pumps to the test. But at least we’re not western Pennsylvania or New York: They face the prospect of heavy, wet snow.
