Believe it or not, the Verona Recreation Department will begin registration for the Waves swim team, summer playgrounds, playground trips, summer tennis and extra summer camps on Monday, March 26. Registration will take place in-person and online, except for Tot-Lot, which requires in-person registration. To be eligible for Tot-Lot, your child must turn 4 by October 1, and you must show their birth certificate and current immunization record at registration.

The Rec Department has put out information sheets on the summer programs and summer playground trips.

The Waves swim team will once again be divided into a travel team and a B team. Try-outs for the travel team will be June 9 and 10. Swim team cost is $50 for the first two children and $20 for every additional child. There is a late fee applied after May 25 of $25 per child with a $35 family maximum, and there will be no registrations after June 15.

The travel team practices five days a week and swimmers are required to compete in six to eight meets in the North Jersey Swim League. The B team will practice four times a week and will compete against other towns’ B teams. To qualify for the B team, a swimmer must swim across the pool with out touching the bottom.

The Rec Department is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There will also be a special Saturday registration on March 31 from 10 a.m. to noon. To register online, please visit click here. All late fees will be applied after May 25.

And if you have not yet registered for spring track, you have until Monday to do so without paying a late fee.
