A reader has sent us a photo of a substance that appears to be antifreeze at dog’s eye level near the curb of Valhalla and Sylvan. There is a red flag marking the spot, but that did not prevent one dog from getting into the liquid today and getting ill. A sign by the flag warned that the liquid, which had dog treats placed nearby at one point today, was intended to keep dogs from relieving themselves on the spot.
Verona’s code requires dog owners to clean up after their dogs. It also carries measures against animal cruelty. The Verona Health Department has been alerted to the problem.
This behavior is unacceptable. Thank you for creating awareness.
