Christopher Festa, who attends H.B. Whitehorne Middle School, has sent us this e-mail about the success of the service project he started as he was entering eighth grade:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that contributed to my service project entitled One Hundred Hoodies for the Homeless. My original goal was to collect one hundred sweatshirts during the summer months to be donated to a shelter in Newark. The project was a success. I collected a total of 260 sweatshirts and they were donated to the St. John’s Soup Kitchen in Newark. The staff distributed the sweatshirts in early fall. Thank you all for your generosity.

  1. Thank you Christopher for making it easy for us to participate in such a worthwhile endeavor! There are few things as comforting and cozy as pulling a hoodie over ones head. It was a great idea and I’m sure it produced many smiles as the hoodies went to their new owners. Thanks to you for having the generousity of spirit to make it happen!
