Susan Fenker, the Verona resident who is the executive director of The Montclair Counseling Center has let us know about two new therapy groups that start this week. Each of these groups will be held at the center, which is located at 183 Inwood Avenue in Upper Montclair.

Group for Parents of Children with Special Needs and/or Receiving Therapy: This support group is about enriching the lives of parents with children of any age who have special needs and/or are receiving counseling services. Its purpose is to allow parents or caregivers to meet, discuss experiences and concerns about their child, share resources and learn guilt free self-care strategies. This weekly group is facilitated by a psychotherapist and may be reimbursed by insurance. This group meets Tuesdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. for eight weeks beginning January 17. You must RSVP to participate to Jennifer Porter, LCSW at 973-769-3037.

Lose Weight With Hypnosis Group: Many studies have shown that adding hypnosis to counseling leads to more successful weight loss. Weekly sessions include relaxing hypnosis, support, and tips for success. This group is led by a licensed professional counselor & certified hypnotherapist. Weekly attendance is strongly encouraged for best results. This group meets Fridays at noon for six weeks beginning January 20. The cost is $300 for the full six weeks. Drop-ins will be welcome at $65 per session if space is available. Cost may be reimbursed by insurance. You must RSVP to participate to Leslie Lobell, LPC at 908-577-0053 or by e-mail.
