Boys Hoops Defeat Newark Arts, Girls Fall To Bloomfield

The Verona Hillbillies boys basketball team moved their record to 5-2 with 43-34 win on Thursday over Newark Arts High School. Senior Captain Anthony Huber and sophomore Luke Weiss led the team scoring with 12 points and combined for 23 rebounds. Captain Packy Malanga had eight points and three steals. While sophomores Matt Braschi and Alex Kaslander accounted for 11 points.

The Verona girls fell to the Bengals of Bloomfield 47-26 yesterday in Bloomfield. Amanda Langan led the Hillbillies’ scoring with 11 points. Julieanne Mascera had five points, Caroline Mols netted four in the effort. The girls’ record dropped to 1-5.
