School is out, but there are plenty of activities around our area that are still in session, like the week of events at the Newark Museum.
From Tuesday to Friday there’s a family event called Miracles Around the World. There will be live music and theater performances, gallery games and scavenger hunts and special planetarium shows that illuminate stories of miracles from around the world. It runs from 12:30 to 4 p.m. each day and entrance is free with suggested museum admission ($10 for adults; $6 for children and seniors). You can also get a tour of the Ballantine House, which has been decorated for a Victorian Christmas.
On Tuesday, December 27, at 2 p.m. Christmas carolers will sing carols from around the world. On Wednesday, December 28, at 2 p.m. the Verona-based theater group Pushcart Players will present “A Season of Miracles”, a collection of holiday tales from different cultures around the world.
There will be four special Planetarium shows each day, including “The Little Star that Could” at 1 and 3 p.m., “Season of Light” at 2 p.m. and “Seven Wonders” at 4 p.m. Just remember that there is a separate admission to the Planetarium of $5 for adults and $3 for children.
The museum’s gallery tours of the Ballantine House at Christmas are at 1 3 p.m. and those of the Patchwork from Folk Art to Fine Art exhibit are at 2 and 4 p.m.
The Newark Museum is located at 49 Washington Street in Newark. The phone number is 973-596-6550.
