Mr. John V. Healy, Sr., 92, died on November 13, 2011 in Cedar Grove.
Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Monday, November 21 from 4 to 7 p.m.
Born in Glen Ridge, Mr. Healy grew up in Verona and lived in Nebraska and New York prior to returning to Verona 30 years ago.
Mr. Healy, a World War II army veteran, served in the battles of North Africa, the invasion of Southern France, was a prisoner of war in Germany and received many medals and the Bronze Star.
He is the father of John V. Healy, Jr. and the late Nicholas Healy, the brother of Paul Healy, the late Bernard Healy and the late Mary Jane Meyers. Mr. Healy is also survived by his daughters-in-law Joyce and Agatha, his grandchildren John V. Healy, III, Melissa Guzik, Nicholas Healy and Michael Healy and his great grandchildren Julia, Sophia and Nicholas.
