Public Schools Delay Report Cards

As expected, Verona’s public schools are going to delay sending out first marking period report cards. The marking period was to have ended this Monday, November 7 and report card delivered one week later on November 15. Now, because of lost teaching days, marking period 1 will be extended to the 15th with report cards distributed on Monday, November 21.

Even before the snow hit, the November school calendar had large blocks of lost instructional time. There is a half day on November 8 to accommodate voting for the county freeholder and state legislature elections. On November 10 and 11, schools are closed completely for the annual state teachers convention. The elementary schools and H.B. Whitehorne middle school have half days on November 16 to 18 for report card conferences. There is a half day right before Thanksgiving, with schools closed for the holiday and Friday.
