Ariane Duarte is going to be bringing in two of her celebrity chef buddies on November 15 for a dinner and auction that will aid in the fight against childhood obesity. The dinner at CulinAriane restaurant is to introduce Louie’s Kids, a national nonprofit fighting childhood obesity, and its latest initiative, Run Buddies. Joining Chef Duarte are Chefs Amanda Freitag from the Food Network show CHOPPED and Carla Hall, from ABC’s new afternoon show, “The Chew”.

“We are great friends who love to cook and cook together. We also are moms, aunts, and food advocates who are concerned for an entire generation of kids,” says Duarte. “We all knew right away when we learned about Louie’s Kids that we wanted to do this dinner. We met Louis [Louis Yuhasz, founder and CEO of Louie’s Kids] and learned about Louie’s Kids this past year at the Charleston Wine + Food Festival that Carla and I took part in. It was simple for us because you can’t be a chef, mom or American for that matter and not understand this critical health problem that affects millions of children today.”
Duarte.

The evening will start at 7 p.m. with a champagne toast at Duarte’s restaurant, CulinAriane at 33 Walnut Street in Montclair. Courses will be prepared by Chefs Freitag and Duarte and with a finale by Duarte’s husband and partner, Chef Michael Duarte. Wines will be paired with each course and a live auction will be lead by Chef Carla Hall.

Of the many luxury items up for auction that evening, there will be a one-of-a-kind weekend for two in Charleston. The South Carolina city recently was named the top destination in America by Conde Nast magazine. Tickets were awarded by Southwest Airlines and hotel accommodations donated by The Charleston Place Hotel, an Oriental Express property for the auction. The trip also includes a carriage ride, Charleston harbor tour and dinners at 2010 and 2011 James Beard award-winning restaurants, Fig and HUSK.

Tickets to “Girls Who Cook Rock! Celebrity Chef Dinner” are  to $125, which includes food and wine. (Tax, gratuity and other beverages additional.) To make reservations, please call CulinAriane at (973) 744-0533.
