As fast as the Verona Public Works Department clears downed branches from the roads, more fall, taking wire after wire with them. The National Weather Service says to expect more snow and freezing temperatures tonight, which is going to mean even more trees and wires down.
We are going to have a lot to clean up when this is all over.
UPDATE 7:45 p.m.: Verona Police say the Verona Community Center ballroom has been opened as an emergency center if you are without power.

As of Sunday at midnight, not one public works truck had been to Hillside Ave, despite the wires blocking the streets. Not so much as a cone was set up to divert traffic. Any and all of the repairs was done by residents and residents alone, including hanging cauion tape on the fallen wires.
Likewise, when a branch fell on a car parked in a driveway across the street, I flagged down a passing police officer. I showed him the downed wires, to which he responded “I didnt hear a thing.” And then he drove off. He couldnt even be bothered to get out of his car.
I wonder how much was paid for these staff driving up and down the streets doing nothing?
