The Verona Environmental Commission held its annual poster contest on October 5. Verona public elementary school students submitted a record 130 posters with messages about the health dangers caused by idling vehicles such as “Don’t Drive Your Car – You Can Walk That Far!”

This year the winners are Sara Sexton, F. N. Brown; Jackson Seawright, Brookdale Avenue; Maya Golebieski, Forest Avenue; and Geena Klinger, Laning Avenue. The winners will receive $50 and a certificate signed by the mayor at an award ceremony in Town Hall on November 7. All posters are currently on display at the Verona Public Library until the end of the month. More pictures of the contest are posted at the VEC’s Web site.
