The Verona Marching Maroon and White drum line had the honor of leading the largest drum line in U.S. Scholastic Band Association history on Saturday night at the Somerville High School Pioneer Marching Band Festival. Eighteen bands participated in the competition from New Jersey and Connecticut.
Verona Marching Maroon and White tied for first place with Elizabeth High School, earning a score of 90.525. Verona captured top honors for Best Music, Best Visual Effect, Best Color Guard and Best Percussion.
This is the first year that VHS has been invited to participate in the USSBA National Championship, which will take place in Allentown, Penn., on Saturday, November 12. The band has one more competition to fine tune their performance, the New Jersey State Championship in Union on November 5, before they head on to nationals.
Come cheer the Marching Maroon and White on Saturday at their half-time performance ,when VHS takes on Weequaic High School at home at 1 p.m. this Saturday, October 29.

The Marching Maroon and White also has a competition this Saturday night at Ridge HS in addition to NJ State Championship in Union on 11/5 and Nationals in Allentown on 11/12.
