We got this e-mail from the Verona Music Parents Association:

On Saturday October 1 the Verona Music Parents Association held its annual Festival of Bands to support the outstanding music program at Verona High School. The event was hugely successful thanks to the many volunteers who came together, in what was not the best of weather conditions, for a night of great music, good food and amazing performances.

A big thank you goes out to Chief of Police Doug Huber and his police force for helping with crowd control, to the Rescue Squad for supplying volunteers to be on standby and for the use of their lights, and to the Fire Department for supplying volunteers and their trucks with lights. The Honorable Mayor Frank Sapienza, Principal Glenn Cesa and Interim School Superintendent Elizabeth Jewett presented awards, and we greatly appreciate their time. Robert and Joe Mathers, band alum and announcers, made the night that much more entertaining so kudos to them! We wouldn’t have been able to pull-off the night without the help of Head Custodian Anthony Carsillo and his team. You are miracle workers for us!

This was truly a night to celebrate our talented children, and without all the parent volunteers helping this festival “run itself” we couldn’t have done it so well, so thank you! We would be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge our numerous sponsors for their generosity in supporting the festival including:

Eight Hills Caterers/Lakeside Deli
Shop Rite of Little Falls
Shop Rite of West Caldwell
Bagelwich of Verona
Brookdale Cleaners
Investors Bank
Music & Arts
School of Rock
Vanderhoof Transportation
S.J. Carney Roofing/Ench Roofing Supply
Pleasantdale Nursery
Cedar Grove Garden Center
North Mountain Dental
The Community Advocates
Lynne Mortimer, GRI,CRS
Town Medical Associates
Triad Therapeutics
Mia Famiglia

And finally, to the music staff – Erik Lynch (Director), Dan Halpern, Ken Sadowsky, Beth and Bernard Kierez, Kelly Backus, Kristy Perna, Kenneth Riehman, Tim Haney, Anthony Fabrizio, Neil Cote and Amanda Hamilton: You give your all to our kids, day in and day out, and it showed in their performances on Saturday. For all that you do and for all that is to come this year we are truly grateful. We may have been co-chairs for this festival, but it was an undertaking by all that made it such a success. Thank you to everyone involved!

Sincerely,

Leslie Regino and Cyndi Hawkins
Co- Chairs
