The Verona Health Department will be providing flu immunizations on Thursday, October 20 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. and by appointment for area residents who are home bound. The fee for immunization is $20 and Medicare will be accepted at the time of appointment (Medicare card must be presented). The clinics will be held at the Verona Community Center, 880 Bloomfield Avenue.
Persons 65 years of age and older, women who will be pregnant during the influenza season, persons under 65 with underlying chronic medical conditions, health care workers with direct patient care, and out of home caregivers and household contact of children under 6 months of age are encouraged to be immunized.
Persons who are allergic to eggs, immunosuppressed, receiving chemotherapy, or have a history of Guillian Barre syndrome should contact their physicians. Pregnant women need a note from their physician to receive the vaccine. Persons with a known allergy to gentamycin, thimerosal or cortisone should consult with their physician as small amounts of these are used in the manufacturing of the vaccine.
