On Saturday, October 1, despite rain and chilly conditions, the Verona High School Marching Band hosted 13 bands from New Jersey and Long Island in a rousing competition at the Verona High School field.

Roxbury High School received the first place award in the Battle of the Bands. As the host band, the Marching Maroon and White’s score was not eligible for prize placement, but from the looks of the performance below, its competitors in future match-ups should be on their toes.

Verona spirit was alive and well as a smaller than usual crowd cheered wildly for the Marching Maroon and White. Parents, band alumni, sponsors and music lovers endured the wet conditions to take in the talent and precision of the Marching Maroon and White as they played their “Hungarian Fantasy” set under the direction of Erik Lynch with drum major Kelli Foy at the helm.
