The Verona Fire Department almost had to be in two places at once on Monday night. Just before 8 p.m., the VFD got a call to head to Cypress Avenue and Ann Street near F.N. Brown elementary school. Another wire had come down, and was dangling in the street. But no sooner had the firefighters parked the trucks there than a second call came in, across Pompton on Cambridge Road near Amy Court. A malfunctioning bathroom light caused a smoke condition in the house. No injuries to residents or the VFD at either location and not much in the way of damage.
