Verona On Craigslist

Earlier this summer, we convened a meeting of MyVeronaNJ.com users. We wanted to get their feedback on some changes that we are planning and hear what they wanted us to add to  the site. At their suggestion, we simplified our Subscription page, to make it easier for users to understand how easy it is to become a subscriber.

They also wanted information on what movies are playing around Verona and when. So we partnered with Fandango to show you the scheduled show times by theater and, for many movies, make it possible for you to buy your tickets right through the site.

Our user group also wanted us to run classified ads on the site and here, we hesitated. MyVeronaNJ.com had a classifieds section early on and, frankly, it wasn’t well used. We were asking people to post on our site information that they were already putting on Craigslist, and for less. Traffic to that site is huge, though it is very easy, in the crush of listings on Craigslist, for individual posts to get buried. But through a conversation with the independently owned news sites that are part of Authentically Local, we found a way that should make everybody happy.

On the far right of our navigation bar you can now see “Verona on Craigslist“. We built a page to display only the listings on Craigslist that are in Verona. It’s not perfect: Depending on the time of day, this page loads more slowly than we would like (if you don’t immediately see the Craigslist listings, just hit refresh). But it’s a start. And we need to be clear: MyVeronaNJ.com doesn’t make a dime from this. We are providing these listings in a convenient form to make MyVeronaNJ.com a one-stop resource for your day.

To see the “Verona on Craigslist” page, click here. If you would like to post a Craigslist sales ad and have it appear here MyVeronaNJ.com, post your item on Craigslist’s North Jersey site, and put “Verona” as your specific location. Easy.
