You might remember that, last week, we showed you this picture of graffiti on heavily rutted Church Street, just up from the Verona Rescue Squad building.  Town Manager Joe Martin said at the Town Council meeting on Monday, August 15, that repairs to the street might be eligible for federal Community Development Block Grant funds. The town intends to file an application by the September 1 deadline, and hopes to hear a response by mid-October.

Martin said the work would involve milling down the street, re-paving and repairing both sidewalks and the ramp to the Rescue Squad building

The work seems long overdue. Town Engineer Jim Helb told the Town Council that the last reconstruction of Church Street was in 1983.
