Patrick Higgins (center) at a conference earlier this year.

Patrick Higgins Jr., Verona’s supervisor for humanities, has accepted a new position with the Caldwell school system. Higgins, who had worked only one year in Verona, will be Caldwell’s new supervisor of instruction, in charge of all curriculum development, staff development, and educational technology for the Caldwell/West Caldwell schools. “It wasn’t an easy decision to leave Verona,” Higgins said. “We are in the midst of some really meaningful work here in Verona. However, this was the best decision for my family.” No word yet on his replacement in Verona.

  1. My congratulations to Mr. Higgins. However, Caldwell’s gain is certainly Verona’s loss. I was always impressed with Mr. Higgins’ out of the box forward thinking.

  2. I hope the new humanities supervisor reconsiders eliminating the honors English and History classes at the high school level. Taking that option away from them is a disservice to so many kids.
