If you are looking for a challenge for your group or company this fall, you might want to look at the Verona Ropes and Challenge Course. The course, which is run by the Verona Recreation Department and sponsored by the Verona Municipal Alliance Committee, has just undergone a makeover that added two new elements, including a new zip line.
The course is located in a heavily wooded area, making it a unique outdoor experience for groups of all different levels. Participants can work on team building, problem solving, cooperation, commitment, effective communication and trust through the use of low and high elements, as well as various adventure activities. There are 10 high elements that require a participant to wear a harness connected to a safety rope and belay system controlled by a trained facilitator. The course can accommodate many different groups including schools, at risk youth, youth programs, colleges and professionals from non-profits, schools and corporations.
The course instructor is Steve Neale, who has competed an Adventure Based Counseling and Technical Skills Intensive course through Project Adventure Inc., among other training. For additional information, contact Neale at [email protected] or call 973-857-4830.

Could you please tell me if the rope course will be open this spring? Also, is there a rope course summer camp for 14 year old boys?
Thanks very much
Alice, it is our understanding that the outdoors ropes course on the Hilltop has been replaced by an indoors course at the Community Center. There’s supposed to be a preview of it later this month, but no word yet on what the schedule is supposed to be. You might try calling the Community Center.
