This is it folks: The last week of MyVeronaNJ.com’s year-long contest to see how well you know the town you live in. Over the last 52 weeks, Fred Goode has taken his camera–and you–to just about every corner of Verona, night and day, and sometimes more than once.

Maybe you’ve won one of our signature MyVeronaNJ.com baseball caps, maybe you’ve never guessed before. Maybe you should give it one more try before we end this contest and begin to work on the next one, which will twist your brain in a whole new direction (more about that later). Fred has sent 28 pictures for this week, and one of them may be just the clue you need.

And one final reminder on the rules: Put your real name, real email address and guess into the Comments field below. Good(e) luck!.

UPDATE: We’re now up to FIFTEEN clues. Keep guessing!

  1. Ok, I’ll keep barking up a tree…even if it’s wrong…how about a flag pole at the “triangle” (where Bloomfield meets Pompton/Mt. Prospect)

  2. Looks like trailer hitch…..where would there be a trailer???? How about DPW facility on Commerce Ct?

  3. Bill: No, but a creative guess. Maureen: No, though I think I understand why you thought that. Kathleen: No, you have ‘”Annie” on the brain. Beth: No. At least not the last time I checked.

  4. This is a fun contest, I wish that I had participated earlier……my next wrong guess will be the Bahr lumber parking lot on Durrell

  5. I can even hum the first four notes of that tune. But it’s still not right. BTW, we’re going to have a profile of one of the new businesses in the 7-11 complex soon.

  6. I believe that the #3 Photo may be a product manufactured by Carboline http://www.carboline.com . Visit the web site and see if you folks might agree….If so, think about water-proofing companies in Verona along with businesses that service the Carboline types of materials..Just a hunch….

  7. the new dry cleaners next to 7-11, I don’t know the name of this cleaner cause I only go to Jimmy at American Dry Cleaners

  8. Jeff, while we did the field up by the Community Center on Week 10, we hadn’t done the Community Center itself. We still haven’t.

Kathleen, No. But some sort of pool would be a good option for the afternoon.

  9. 155 Pompton Ave? (Used to be a bank, then AAA was there, now I think there is a chiropractor in the building

  10. Let me work through these in reverse order.

Donna: No. Jeff had the same guess earlier today
Jeff: No. Again. Or is that three times?
    Colin: No
Beth: Doesn’t matter what you call it, that’s not where we are.
Bryan: A prayer to end the heat wave is a great idea. Start now.
    Sue: No.

  11. OK, I actually checked the list of previous locations and did not see this one on it. It seemed too obvious so I never thought to guess. Of course, if I am wrong again, I look like a fool but I feel kind of confident. How many places in town would have an AED? Of all the ones that have not been guessed yet, I am going to say OLL Church.

  12. On second thought, now that I scrolled up I see that Bryon kind of guessed OLL without actually saying that was his guess so now I am not so sure. However, I will stand with that for now.

  13. First, we need a translation from Rescue Squad-speak. An AED is an automated external defibrillator, which is the photo about 10 shots in.

Then to the answers. Bill, the church on Gould Street is the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit. We don’t have an AED.

Which leaves us with Jeff’s guess. Though he seems to question it, Jeff has has figured out that we are, indeed at OLL. But since Bryan paved the way for Jeff’s winning guess, we are going to award hats for Week 52 to both of them.

I’m unveiling all off the Week 52 photos now. Thanks to all of you who have played, this week and throughout the year.

  14. Jeff, Great job!

As Virginia and I figured it was time to take a break from the contest she wanted to make sure that our final site was one that was obvious, but challenging.

OLL was her obvious choice and I’m glad that this one went the distance and that it was by far the one location with the most comments.

I would like to congratulate everyone that was a winner over the last 52 weeks. I hope everyone who took a couple of minutes to look at the clues and play along enjoyed themselves.

Enjoy the rest of the summer.
    fred

  15. Bravo and thank you to Virginia and Fred for a very educational and fun year of this contest. Also for the quality web site that you work so very hard to keep current Virginia. Can’t wait to see what you have in store for us next.
