The SJ Carney Roofing A’s evened the Verona Baseball & Softball League’s Pony League World Series at 1, beating the Game Room Store Pirates 12-8 last night, before a energetic crowd at Verona High School.

First inning triples by Luke Connell and Noah Chait gave the Pirates an early 3-0 lead, but the offense sputtered the rest of the game.

Strong pitching performances by Chris Bujnowski and Mario Catania, and timely hitting by Sean Sims, Brett Newell and JP McEvoy lead the charge by
the A’s.

The final and deciding game 3 is Wednesday, June 22, at 5:15 p.m. at Veterans Field, which is by the Verona Community Center on Linn Drive.
