The U.S. Postal Service’s motto says that none of a variety of forces of nature will stay it from its rounds. So was it with the rounds played by the Verona High School golf team this spring: The team played through the awful weather this spring, and delivered the strongest record for a VHS golf team in many years.

The Golf team finished the season with a record of 13-6 overall and a divisional record of 13-2, which placed the team second in the conference. The boys were came in third in North Jersey, Section 2, Group 1 behind Bernards and Madison. The Golf team also qualified for the state sectional playoffs for the first time in six years, finishing ninth out of the 12 participating teams. At the conference tournament, the team placed second to Caldwell, with senior James Mann placing third and fellow senior Will LaRiccia placing seventh. Bobby Leblein, a freshman, placed sixth.

Leblein will be back next season, while two of the seniors will be moving on to college golf. Richie Williamson will be playing golf for William Patterson University and LaRiccia will be playing for Arcadia University in Philadelphia.
