The Verona Municipal Alliance Committee held a barbecue on Wednesday, June 8, to thank the advisers who run VMAC-funded clubs at Verona High School and H.B. Whitehorne Middle School. The Best Club, held at HBW, focuses on raising girls’ self esteem by getting them to participate in community outreach events such as teaching computer skills to seniors. In STARS, high school students participate in training programs on alcohol, tobacco and drug prevention and then visit 4th grade classrooms to talk to students about avoiding peer pressure in middle school.
